We have so many inactive players who have icon and becouse of that we set a little limitation for icons. If you want to use your free online time or free award icon, you need to login to forum at least montly (just login or post something or vote at poll, etc...).
If you don't want login monthly for icon, donate or your icon temporary will be disabled.
This limit is not for donators.
It's good for all players because many inactive players have a lot of nice award icons but don't playing at server. Now active and newer players can get award icons too.
In the client-server network architecture used by the Source engine, all of the important game decisions are made on the server. These “decisions” include things like what happens when a player is killed, when the game ends, and what is the function of a turret factory.
To keep things simple, NS-Team's original plan for scripting in Natural Selection 2 was limited to scripts that executed on the server and controlled those aspects that didn't require any complex networking with the client.
Jason Lange is one of the main artists on our NS2 team and he recorded his entire workflow while he textured a 3D model of a cannister. View the video below to get an idea of what goes into a simple prop.
This cannister is one of many props that they need to create in order flesh out the world, to make them feel detailed and "realistic". Other props include swinging cables, grates, vents and doors.
Here's a cool concept painting done by Christian Oesch. NS2 Team mentioned in the last blog that the concept images posted before were of the “biomech”art set; this image belongs to what they call the “drytech” set and as you can see it has a bit of a different look.
Natural Selection 2 is set a few years after Natural Selection so we want to make the aliens, technologies and environments reflect this passage of time. At the same time, we need to preserve the original feel.

Computer Terminal Concept
Some people commented on the Natural Selection 2 concept image that Charlie slipped into the end of his GDC presentation slides, so they figured they'd give you the full-resolution image and a little bit of background on this great concept illustration by Cory Strader.
